In America, we definitely take our easy access to water for granted. Daily we walk to our sinks, turn on the tap, and fill glasses with clean fresh water. We take showers, wash our hair, brush our teeth and don’t even question the origins of the droplets of water that make these rituals possible.
Climate change may be a hard concept for some of us because we are so far removed from what is happening in other parts of the world where impacts of little water are felt on a daily basis. In fact, around the world temperatures are peaking and the atmosphere is going through some major changes especially when it comes to water.
Can you even imagine not having the ability to just take a shower, fill your glass, flush your toilet. Over 700 million people worldwide are living without access to clean water. Although water may be present, it is not suitable for drinking. Extractive industries and industrial development contaminate our streams and rivers which people depend on for their drinking water and food. In other countries many women and children walk miles a day to fill their buckets with water full of disease.
At Aveda, Our mission is to care for the world we live in from the products we make to the ways in which we give back to society.
