Emma grew up in Evergreen, Colorado with 3 sisters. As a kid she spent a lot of her time outdoors skiing, biking and hiking. A year stint in Chicago made Emma realize that she is a Colorado girl through and through. Before attending beauty school, Emma attended college at CU Boulder where she studied history and anthropology graduating in 2014. As a student in Boulder, Emma learned about the power of plants and flowers.
With a love for beauty, Emma decided to attend beauty school. She chose Aveda because of their natural approach and felt that the Aveda mission resonated strongly with her. Emma believes beautiful people see the value of a beautiful planet. Once she got her hands in some hair at beauty school, Emma felt a deep sense of satisfaction and accomplishment. For her, one of the best feelings in the world is helping someone feel more comfortable and confident in their own skin.
Emma likes that cutting creates a map on the head. How everything comes together at the end is fascinating to her. Cutting shorter hair is fun for Emma because she can accentuate peoples face shapes. Emma enjoys bringing out someone’s personal style through hair. Coloring hair is also a passion for Emma. Blending highlights to look natural and almost sun-kissed is one of her favorite techniques.
Aside from doing her guests hair, Emma loves to teach them how to do their own hair. Giving blow dry lessons and teaching people how to recreate a style when they leave the salon is important to her. When she’s not behind the chair, you can find Emma exploring the outdoors and stargazing.
